Mozzarella Stuffed Onion Rings

Prep time: 20 minutes

Cook time: 15 minutes

Total time: 35 minutes

Yield: 4 servings

Ingredients:

2 large onions

8 mozzarella sticks (cut into halves)

1 cup all-purpose flour

2 eggs

1 cup breadcrumbs (panko for extra crunch)

1 tsp garlic powder

1 tsp paprika

Salt and pepper to taste

Oil for frying

For dipping sauce:

½ cup mayonnaise

2 tbsp ketchup

1 tsp garlic powder

1 tsp dried parsley

Instructions:

1. Slice onions into thick rings and separate them.

2. Match similar-sized rings and place a mozzarella piece between two rings to form a stuffed ring.

3. Freeze the stuffed rings for 30 minutes to help them hold shape.

4. Prepare three bowls: flour (seasoned with salt, pepper), beaten eggs, and breadcrumbs mixed with garlic powder and paprika.

5. Dip each frozen ring into flour, then egg, then breadcrumbs. Repeat for a thicker coating.

6. Heat oil in a pan to 350°F (175°C).

7. Fry rings until golden brown and crispy, about 2–3 minutes per side.

8. Remove and drain on paper towels.

9. Mix dipping sauce ingredients and serve alongside.

Pro Tip:

Freeze the rings well before frying—this prevents the cheese from leaking out too quickly and keeps that perfect gooey center!
