🍓🍯 Strawberry Honeybun Cake 🍰✨
A sweet, creamy strawberry-filled honeybun-style cake topped with fluffy frosting and juicy berries!
Ingredients:
1 box yellow cake mix
3 large eggs
1 cup sour cream
1/2 cup vegetable oil
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Strawberry filling:
1 1/2 cups fresh strawberries, chopped
1/3 cup sugar
1 tablespoon lemon juice
Cream layer:
1 cup whipped cream or whipped topping
4 oz cream cheese, softened
1/4 cup powdered sugar
Topping:
1 cup fresh strawberries, sliced
1/2 cup strawberry sauce or syrup
Extra whipped cream
Instructions:
1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x13 baking dish.
2. In a large bowl mix the cake mix, eggs, sour cream, vegetable oil, and vanilla until smooth.
3. Pour the batter into the prepared baking dish and bake for about 30–35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
4. While the cake cools, cook the chopped strawberries, sugar, and lemon juice in a small saucepan over medium heat for about 5–7 minutes until thick and jam-like. Let cool.
5. In a bowl beat the cream cheese and powdered sugar until smooth, then fold in the whipped cream.
6. Slice the cooled cake horizontally if desired for layers, or simply spread the cream mixture over the top.
7. Spoon the strawberry filling over the cream layer and let it drip down the sides.
8. Top with sliced fresh strawberries and drizzle strawberry syrup for that signature honeybun-style look.
9. Chill for 30 minutes before serving for best texture.
